Halden began in 2014 as two people, one workshop and a conviction that most rooms contain too much. We still design that way.

Written down in 2014 and unchanged since. Every piece in the catalogue has to pass all three.

Fewer, better objects
We release a handful of pieces a year and retire nothing. A chair from 2015 is still in production, unchanged.

Made where it makes sense
Oak in Jutland, ceramics near Porto, linen from Normandy. Each material stays close to the people who know it best.

Repair over replace
Every joint can be opened, every surface refinished. We keep parts for a decade and publish the drawings.
Most of the work is deciding what not to make.
We draw far more than we build. A piece earns its place by doing one thing well and asking for nothing else: no second finish, no clever mechanism, nothing you would notice before you noticed the room. It is why the catalogue is short, and why the pieces in it rarely change.
Made by hand, close to the material.
Each piece comes from one of the workshops below. We visit them several times a year; most have been in the same family for two generations or more.

The showroom
Every current piece is on the floor at Vesterbrogade, arranged as rooms rather than displays. Come and sit for as long as you like.
